I keep trying to get it into people's heads that just because there are analogous relationships between books and music/movies doesn't mean that they are actually the same or should be treated as such. It's quite the opposite. Books are not movies. You'd think it would be obvious, but people still think you can treat a book like you do a movie...and you can't. It doesn't work. The markets don't function the same, the mediums are not consumed in the same way, and nothing about them is the same except a handful of things that seem the same, but really aren't.

I never buy hardbacks unless they are on sale or in a special edition of some sort. I can't justify paying $30 (sometimes $50 for the big anthos) for something that mostly likely won't be as good as I thought it would be. But I'm also picky as hell when it comes to my reading...

Looks like he's getting his wish to some extent:
